South South Area Office Rivers

Introduction

Six (6) new Area Offices and two (2) new Departments were recently created following the express approval for expansion of the organizational structure of the NYSC Scheme by Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) on 14th May 2024.

The South South Area Office II Rivers which is one of the newly created Area Offices is headed by a pioneer Ag. Director who oversees and supervises the activities of State Coordinators and their respective Secretariats under his jursidiction. These include Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers States.

It is currently located within NYSC Rivers Secretariat, Port Harcourt pending approval/release of office accomodation by the Executive Governor of Rivers State.

Brief Summary of tthe role of Division and Units

There are six (6) Divisions, fourteen (14) Branches and five (5) Units at the Area Office as recently created in accordance with the extant organogram. The Units are usually domiciled in the Office of the Director.

The following are units in the office of the Director:

  3. Corps Security
  4. Legal
  5. Audit

Divisions and Branches:

There are Six Divisions, each of which is headed by a Deputy Director (on salary grade level 16). Also, there are fourteen branches which are also headed by an Assistant Director (on Salary Grade 15). The funtions of the Divisions and in accordance with their nomenclatures.
